Earlier this week, Jordan Peterson got eviscerated on social media after calling plus-size model Yumi Nu ‘not beautiful’, and later expanding his point that her Sports Illustrated cover shoot was “a conscious attempt to manipulate & retool the notion of beauty, reliant on the idiot philosophy that such preferences are learned & properly changed by those who know better.”
It’s an interesting debate, but the way he went about it by dissing Yumi Nu was no bueno as far as the internet was concerned. Now, finally, Yumi has responded to the controversy in the form of a TikTok:
@_yumi_nuanyways…
O…K. Not so much a response as just a further trolling of Peterson using a Nicki Minaj soundbite. But I guess she made her point – that the drama only brought more attention to her and the Sports Illustrated issue and so it’s all worked out nicely for her.
As for Peterson, his Twitter account seems to have reverted to posting psychology and self-help content – which can hopefully be his focus from now on because a lot of that stuff is really useful and keeps him immune from getting dragged and meme’d to death all over Twitter. Maybe he could invite Yumi Nu onto his podcast and they can talk about the whole thing like adults? Yeah, fat chance (pun not intended)…
