Everyone remembers Xabi Alonso’s two goals from inside his own half from his time playing at Liverpool, but he hasn’t really done anything like that during his time at Real Madrid, despite winning a hell of a lot of trophies and prizes even though there was a bit of beef between Bale and Ronaldo when the former first showed up.
It’s only taken him a few weeks at his new club Bayern Munich to go close with a similar shot again though against Hannover. He’s already absolutely killing it at Bayern Munich – recently breaking the record for the most amount of touches ever in a Bundesliga game – and this would have been the icing on the cake although he was denied by a great piece of goalkeeping.
It didn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things though as Bayern still ran out 4-0 winners. Even if it had gone in though it wouldn’t have been as good as this unbelievable long range volley from Fabrizio Miccolli.
