Very sad news today as WWE legend Psycho Sid AKA Sid Justice AKA Sid Vicious has passed away aged 63.

His son Gunnar confirmed the news on Facebook, revealing his dad had been ‘battling cancer for several years’:

‘Dear friends and family, I am deeply saddened to share that my father, Sid Eudy, has passed away after battling cancer for several years.

‘He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed.

‘We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss. Details for a memorial service will be shared soon. Thank you for your support.’

Sid was a proper wrestler’s wrestler; a 6ft 9 screaming madman who beat people up and looked like a lunatic. Even his ring entrance and music were terrifying if you were a young kid at the time:

He also had one of the best Powerbombs in the game:

WWE shared their own tribute for the legend, real name Sid Eudy, on their website:

‘Known as “The Master and Ruler of the World”, Sid’s reputation as one of the toughest and most thrilling Superstars cemented his legacy in WWE, and his influence can still be seen in wrestling rings around the world.’

Sid had a good run in WWF/E, WCW and even the original ECW, before a horror injury in 2021 forced him to mostly retire from the ring after snapping his tibia and fibula. It was one of the most horrific live TV injuries I’ve ever seen, with Sid’s broken leg left dangling at a weird angle as he landed off the turnbuckle. You can watch that below if you’ve got the stomach for it:

Speaking on the Prime Time With Sean Mooney podcast in his final interview, Sid said this about his wrestling career:

‘This is the deal. I don’t have to pat myself on the back to you or anybody. I’m the hardest worker that I’ve ever met in my life, and anybody that’s ever traveled with me like Bob Holly, Billy Gunn, or any of these guys that worked out with me or traveled the road, no one ever worked harder than me.

‘I was through with my first workout and back to my second breakfast when everybody else was just getting up, and I was going to my second workout, and that’s how I was as a kid too. I thrived to be the best, and I did everything it took to do that.

‘It’s in my genes. My father was an overachiever. He was a pilot; he’s the one who taught me to fly. I think everyone in my family was overachievers. That just runs in my family.’

What a legend. RIP big man!

Sid is survived by his wife Sabrina Paige, and two sons, Gunnar, who is also a wrestler, and Frank, who appeared on the US version of Big Brother.
