We’ve blogged about Alica Schmidt once or twice before when people started referring to her as the ‘world’s sexiest athlete’, so it pains us to report that Alicia has crashed out of the European Championships this week after finishing dead last in the 400m semi-finals.
Alica finished third in her heat to qualify on Monday, so what went wrong? We’ll tell you what went wrong – she brainlessly changed her kit from a onesie to a crop top and pants. Completely out of the blue! Why would you mess with your own good luck like that? Why would you change the outfit that you’ve been constantly qualifying in up to this point?

That’s just asking for bad luck. The worst luck in fact because she finished dead last. I’m not sure why she didn’t have that inkling already or why her coaches didn’t inform her that you need to stick with a certain outfit if you’ve been winning in it up to that point. Maybe Germans just aren’t superstitious like that? Well, hopefully they’ve got a new outlook on that sort of thing after this experience,
Not to worry though, because Alica will get her chance again at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Go Alica Go!
