Very sad day in the world of bodybuilding as a Belarusian man known as The Mutant and the world’s ‘most monstrous bodybuilder’ has died of a heart attack aged just 36.

Illia ‘Golem’ Yefimchyk ate seven times a day and consumed 16,500 calories, including 108 pieces of sushi and 2.5 kilograms of steak. Which might sound insane, but sumo wrestlers eat 10,000+ calories a day for their whole 10-20 year careers, and still live to age 65 on average.

Which means The Mutant dying so young probably had much more to do with steroids/drugs than calories, but I guess we’ll have to wait for the autopsy to confirm that. I mean, I don’t know if he ever claimed to be 100% healthy and natural, but somehow I doubt it…

Illia 'Golem' Yefimchyk, known as The Mutant, has died aged 36 following a reported heart attack

The Mutant weighed in at 340lbs and stood at 6ft 1 inch tall, while boasting a 61-inch chest and 25-inch biceps. In his career, he achieved lifts of 600-pound bench press, 700-pound deadlifts, and 700-pound squats. What a beast!

Russian newspaper Kommersant reported: ‘On September 6, the athlete suffered a heart attack and fell into a coma.’ His death was confirmed on September 11.

Get a load of those guns:

The Belarusian said he always wanted to have a chest and biceps like Arnold Schwarzenegger

He lived in Belarus, followed by the Czech Republic, US and Dubai

Speaking to Muscular Development in 2020 he said he started his bodybuilding journey as a teenager with a desire to follow in the footsteps of the greats:

‘All I knew was that I wanted to have a chest and biceps like Arnold Schwarzenegger.’

Mission accomplished on that front. Obviously bodybuilding can be a very healthy habit, but when you take steroids for muscle growth, don’t forget that the heart and other organs are muscles too. The heart can only pump so much and increasing muscle mass to this degree puts enormous strain on it. I don’t know if The Mutant had a body dysmorphic disorder or anything like that, but this story serves as a reminder that it’s simply not worth the risk just so that you can accelerate your gains. Stay natural.

RIP big man.

Meanwhile, The Liver King admitted he’s back on steroids after losing too much strength and muscle. Sigh…
