It’s fairly certain that the biggest animal to ever inhabit the Earth is the blue whale, so it comes as little surprise that the creature literally possesses the biggest physical heart the world has ever seen. Still, it’s quite the spectacle to actually see it with your own eyes.

Here’s a clip from BBC One’s ‘Big Blue Live’ in which scientists revealed one such heart which they’d been keeping preserved. It’s absolutely massive:

Blue whales can grow to be about 100ft (30.5 metres) in lenth. They’re so rare that scientists weren’t able to study their anatomy until relatively recently.

The whale heart will be put on display at the Royal Ontario Museum at some point in the future.

Just a shame there’s so few of these majestic creatures left, thanks to arseholes like these (NSFL).
