Geez, it’s time for another one of those articles where I have absolutely no clue why the person I’m writing about would act the way that they have. Simply what advantage is there to not cutting your fingernails for 25 years and having them look like this?

I suppose you’ll get a Guinness World Record, but it just looks really annoying and makes everyone think that you’re a freak really doesn’t it? Weird vibe about it all.

Anyway, 64 year old Diana Armstrong from Minnesota hasn’t cut her nails since 1997 after the tragic death of her 16 year old daughter and they now measure 42 feet and 10 inches collectively, with the longest one her right thumbnail that reaches four foot and six inches. Armstrong says that because her daughter Latisha always used to manicure her nails, she couldn’t face anyone else doing them after she passed away from an asthma attack and then decided to just keep growing them as a tribute to her.

Now she looks like a complete and utter weirdo, but at least she’s honouring the memory of her daughter right? Not sure if there’s another possible way she could do that or anything?

Here’s what she had to say about her decision:

I haven’t been to a nail salon in about 22 years. When they see me coming, they’d be like, “Oh no”.

If I have to pick up money off the floor, I can pick up bills, but if I drop change on the floor, that will just stay down there.

I can pop open a can of soda but I need a knife. I drove a car but had to stick my hand out the window, so I don’t drive anymore.

And in public restrooms, I need to use the biggest stall – my nails are usually longer than the regular-sized stalls.

I think she [Latisha] would be proud of me because she’s the last one who did my nails.

That’s who I think of when I grow my nails, is my daughter.

My nails are a part of me. I can’t ever imagine cutting them off.

All of this just makes her nails sound massively inconvenient and just not worth the hassle whatsoever? I get that it’s a tribute to her dead daughter but you’ve gotta think that Latisha probably up there screaming at her mother to cut them off FFS and try to be normal. Just saying.
