An absolute hero of a lady thwarted two thieves who snatched her e-bike this week by yanking one of them off a moped as they tried to speed off with it:
Sadly, everyone else in the vicinity was rooted to the spot and too busy enjoying their coffees in Starbucks and filming the incident to actually get involved and help this lady get her e-bike back. Still, she was able to drag one of the crooks off the bike and leave him dumped in the middle of the road, while the other offender escaped on his moped, unfortunately.
It all went down on Tuesday on Shenley Road, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, just north of London.
Local Steve Blackman said: ‘Fair play to the lady having a go back. But I can’t understand there’s nobody helping and of course caught on camera taking the documentary of it all instead of helping? I know it’s a bit daunting to get involved with something like this. But that’s someone’s family member and trust me the little sod needs more than being dragged off that bike and I say that in a non-violent manner.’
The Bystander Effect in full, um, effect there. Of course it’s always disappointing to see, but at the same time, can you really shame people for not jumping in when these kids could very possibly be armed with zombie knives and whatnot? It does make you appreciate how brave this woman was to try and get her e-bike back in the first place though. Respect!
Hertfordshire Police are apparently on the case… reckon they’ll make any arrests? Nah, me neither.
