A woman has been jailed for two years after driving 230 miles to post dead mice through her ex-girlfriend’s letterbox, which is just one of the bizarre stunts she pulled in a terrifying revenge tour she kicked off after the relationship ended.

Eleanor Hepburn, 22, terrorised her ex so much she was left feeling as though she was trapped in ‘a real life horror movie’.

Eleanor struggled to move on after the couple broke up in September 2023, and since then had been bombarding her ex with calls, texts, e-mails… and dead mice, apparently.

In August last year, Eleanor drove four hours from Portsmouth to her ex’s flat in Warrington where she started banging on the door and screaming abuse in the early hours of the morning.

The next month, she drove all that way again just to barricade her ex’s door with a bunch of wheelie bins.

Shockingly, none of this behaviour convinced her ex to give their relationship another chance, and so Eleanor decided she needed to ramp up the terror.

One day, the victim heard the doorbell ring and when she went to answer the door, she found a dead mouse had been posted through the letterbox.

Eleanor’s victim later told police she and her partner ‘were finding dead mice all over the stairs’ to her flat for the rest of that day, with several more scattered outside.

Eleanor continued making the long drive up to Warrington ‘every weekend’ and ‘stared through [the victims’] window, tried her door handle and messed about with her letterbox’, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

One day she even switched things up a little bit and filmed herself throwing eggs at the home of a relative of her ex’s new partner, and uploaded the clip to Snapchat story.

In a victim impact statement, Eleanor’s ex said:

‘This experience has changed me so much that I no longer recognise who I am.’

My sleep is disturbed every night. I have nightmares about being killed or something bad happening to me or my family.

‘I’ve experienced sleep paralysis on more than one occasion, convinced that Eleanor is in the house with knives or fireworks. I thought I was going to die in a fire due to the threats arising from Eleanor.

‘I felt traumatised every day, wondering if I would find something dead in my letterbox, inside my home or outside my front door.

‘Eleanor has destroyed the safe space I created with my partner. Despite my new home, I continue to feel, deep inside, like I made a horrible decision reporting her crimes, like I have something to owe her still.

‘Eleanor has caused me serious stress, a lot of anxiety, severe depression and made my life feel like a real life horror movie. Unlike a movie, I can’t just turn the TV off.’

Fortunately, Eleanor wasn’t killing the mice herself, as she explained to police she bought them frozen from Pets At Home. Otherwise she’d definitely be looking at an animal cruelty charge too.

Eleanor appeared in court via video-link and read out a letter she had penned for the hearing, saying:

‘It’s something I deeply regret.

‘I’m extremely sorry and wish I could turn back time. I completely understand that she would have been upset and scared by this.

‘I’ve used my time in custody in a positive way and taken every opportunity given to me. I’m not trying to make any excuses for my behaviour. I just want to convey that I’m sorry and capable of change.’

The good thing is that at 22, she’s still young enough to come out of prison in 1 or 2 years and get her life back in order. Who knows – maybe she’ll even meet someone new in prison in the meantime. Then they can all go on double dates with her ex and hew new partner and put this whole sorry mess them. Well, then again, maybe not.
