Breaking wind news today: a North Wales woman has pleaded guilty to harassment in the UK’s first ever ‘cyber-farting’ case after bombarding her boyfriend’s ex with videos of herself letting rip.

Rhiannon Evans, 25, is accused of causing Deborah Prytherch ‘distress and anxiety’ by sending her ‘inappropriate’ videos of her farting.

Prosecutor Diane Williams told magistrates court in Cearnarfon, North Wales, that in the first video taken in December ‘she proceeds to pass gas by placing the camera on her bottom and passing the gas.’

Rhiannon Evans (pictured), 25, of Caernarfon, Gwynedd, pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct amounting to the harassment of Deborah Prytherch by sending 'inappropriate' videos.

Rhiannon then followed that up with another three videos of her farting on December 22, followed by another four in the next few days.

Each video showed ‘Miss Evans passing wind, her face smiling at the camera,’ which does sound absolutely diabolical to be fair.

Her farting continued on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, despite police getting wind of what had happened (pun not intended but intended).

It may sound pathetic that this case could even end up in court, but apparently the victim was left fearing for her life. In a victim statement read to the court, Deborah said she ‘would like to feel safe in my home’.

When Rhiannon was arrested at her home, she admitted sending the videos and said it was because she felt her partner was being treated unfairly by his ex in a child custody dispute. Not sure that sending her an avalanche of fart videos was the best way to go about things, but she did also admit that she was drunk every time she did so.

The original malicious communications charge listed against the shopworker described that she 'sent several videos of yourself farting'

Harriet Gorst, defending, said: ‘There are some issues going on between Miss Evans’s partner and his ex-partner with regard to child contact.’

‘At the time she sent these videos she had some drinks and she sent them, understanding now this has caused the victim some distress. She sent them without malicious intent.’

Rhiannon was also said to have mental health problems, which checks out, all things considered. In the end, the court imposed 15 rehabilitation sessions, 60 days alcohol abstinence monitoring and a two-year restraining order. She’s also been ordered to pay £100 compensation and £199 costs to the victim, and has been banned from contacting her (fart videos or otherwise).

Very lucky she didn’t get scent down in the end; so long as she completes the requirements issued by the court. I’m not sure why the victim didn’t just block her after the first fart video came through, but I guess it feel sweeter to have her nailed in court like this. Not to mention – £100 compensation for listening to farts! Quids in.
