You might know that Will Smith has a son if you’ve seen that movie The Pursuit of Happiness because I’m pretty sure he acts opposite him in it and there was a bit of hype about it because it was the first time that has ever happened? I think maybe he got nominated for some kind of award for it as well because he was actually a really good actor. I might be making all this up though because I couldn’t be bothered to check it out but I’m pretty sure a bunch of stuff like that happened. After that I know he was in the Karate Kid remake but I haven’t really heard much about him lately as it seems most of the headlines were going to his younger sister Willow Smith for whipping her hair back and forth all the time. Respect girl.
It turns out that Jaden has been focussing on a rap career though and here’s his first single which surprisingly isn’t that terrible, unlike other famous actor’s sons who have given it a shot (do you remember when Tom Hanks’ son tried to be a rapper? Me neither because he sucked and looks like a piece of white trash). The song is called ‘The Coolest’ and samples Roy Ayers ‘Everybody Loves The Sunshine’ and is kind of laid back and chill. There isn’t a chorus or anything just one line where someone says ‘The Coolest’ and the rest of the time Jaden is just rapping about getting soda with his girl who’s into yoga and talking about how all the girls think he’s so legit and how he’s the coolest and stuff. It’s actually OK and not awful or anything – I might even go as far as saying it’s surprisingly good, although I’m not really into hip hop/rap so don’t know if my opinion really means anything but it seems like he has a cool flow and like I said the song is pretty chill so I could imagine hanging out with some homies getting baked to it or something.
I’m surprised it doesn’t have more views/hype over it considering it’s Will Smith’s son and how big Willow Smith was a couple of years ago. It’s kind of cool that Jaden has dropped the Smith from his stage name too and perhaps this relatively low key entrance into the music world (aside from a low charting song he released with Justin Bieber last year) is indicative that he doesn’t want to play off his father’s fame and actually wants to make it on his own? That would be kind of cool but then you gotta think as well that he’s a 14 year old kid rapping about being cool (his record is even called ‘The Cool Cafe’) so he probably doesn’t really have a clue what he’s doing.

Sure, he’s got resources that every other 14 year old in the world could only dream of, but considering how bad it could have been it seems like he knows what he’s doing. I guess we’ll have to see how ‘The Cool Cafe’ does when it comes out to see if he’s can end up as big as his father:
