There are thousands of stories out there about Hollywood actors turning down roles that would have made them completely iconic and a ton of money, but it’s not very often that you get to hear the exact story about why they made such bad decisions.

Most people know that Will Smith famously turned down the role of Neo in The Matrix to make Wild Wild West instead and he was kind enough to laugh at himself for such a dumbass move and explain what was going through his head at the time. In fairness, when you hear about it it’s kinda fair enough:
Yeah I mean it’s kinda dumb how he couldn’t see that just jumping and cameras rolling around you wasn’t going to be the biggest movie of all time and Wild Wild West was going to be complete bunk, but I guess you live and you learn. At least he’s still got a career. Or maybe he doesn’t anymore because he’s had to go crawling back to the Bad Boys franchise. You tell me.
