Donald Trump had mixed reviews as US President, but I don’t think anyone can really accuse him of being a Putin or Kim Jong-un level of tyrant, can they?
Well, in the run-up to the 2024 Presidential election this November, you’re going to hear a lot of that kind of talk about whoever is representing either party. On ‘The View’ this week, host Whoopi Goldberg got the digs in early with regards to Donald Trump (who we don’t even know for sure will be allowed to run).
Whoopi said: “I’m here to say it is ours to lose. It is this country — this is what it’s all about. Either you want it to work forward thinking. You want everybody to have the ability to say how they feel, what they want, to move forward, or you don’t. Or do you want somebody who says, ‘I’m going to be, on day one, I’m going to be a dictator.’ Who says it to you, tells you, ‘I’m going to put you people away. I’m going to take all the journalists, I’m going to take all the gay folks, and I’ll move you all around and disappear you. If that’s the country you want, you know who to vote for. If that’s not the country you want, you have to make a decision.”

Whoa! Disappearing journalists and gay folks? You can call Donald Trump a lot of things, but a journalist killer or gay folk disappear are not two of them, as far as I know. There’s literally so many things that are true about Donald Trump that you could have a go at him about, why would you need to exaggerate something like that?
Maybe it’s just a prediction based on a gut feeling she has, which I suppose is fair enough. It’s Whoopi’s talk show after all, so she can say what she wants. If any journalist or gay person does end up disappearing during Trump’s (potential) second run as President, she’ll look like the cleverest person in the world. But then she’ll also be pretty vexed because Trump as President sounds like it might be her worst nightmare. It’s going to be a wild ride to November and beyond…
