Although the wood may not have been as hardy as metal they look pretty terrifying to me:
Japan utilised armour for longer than Europe but the Satsuma Rebellion of 1877 was the last real battle to see Samurai armour in play. I think out of all of the armour I’ve looked at today (and that’s quite a bit) these Samurai outfits look the most badass.
They would take thousands of man hours to create, each suit of armour represented the warriors personality and social status.
Pretty fresh huh?
