Burning man festival- August 25th – September 3rd, Black Rock City, Nevada
This festival is not as strange as some of the others mentioned and actually looks pretty awesome. Its basically close to 50,000 hedonists who meet in the Nevada desert for 8 days of madness which ends in the burning of a wicker man.

Bognor Birdman- October 1st, Bognor Regis, West Sussex
One for later on in the year. Compete for cash in this human- powered flight contest. The aim is to reach a set distance after leaping off the pier in your flying outfit of choice.
