I remember back when we started Sick Chirpse in 2010 and we often talked about how weed needed to be legalised and it would probably never happen in our lifetime and although it hasn’t quite made it over here yet, some of the progress in America is downright spectacular.

The latest feature I thought that I would never see that is rolling out over there this week is the weed vending machine, which is the brainchild of a guy called Matt Frost. He’s the founder and CEO of the ‘tricked out vending machine’ Anna.

Anna is designed to take and fill out orders for marijuana products, meaning that you’ll be able to pick up items like weed, vape oil and edibles from the machine without having to talk to anyone. That might be useful if you’re really stoned and don’t feel like interacting with someone who’s really helpful and cheerful, although you would think they would be more understanding of that in a weed dispensary. Still, it’s a pretty good addition to the weed lexicon, especially if it’s available outside of opening hours of the store.

There are experienced cannabis customers who don’t necessarily need that one-on-one interaction with a budtender. They know what they want before they walk in, they’re ready to go in and out.

By doing this we’re giving more time back to the people who do need hand holding and want that education from a live person.

Sounds like a great plan right? Literally nobody is coming off badly in these situations, even the ‘budtenders’ (lol) who might be worried for their jobs as there are still going to be people who require their expertise. Great news for the industry if you ask me and hopefully it will mean that this kind of stuff is one step closer to coming over here. We live and dream.

Anna is already on site at a weed dispensary in Strawberry Fields, Colorado and they’re looking to roll out more in both Colorado and Pennsylvania this week. The future is now.
