Absolute nightmare scenario at a wedding in Cuernacava, Mexico, as over 100 guests fell ill and starting throwing up and sh*tting violently all over the banquet hall, ruining the celebrations completely.
It’s thought they were all struck down by food poisoning after eating wild mushrooms served by a catering company following the wedding ceremony, with some guests reporting they had a ‘strange flavour.’
Victims complained of stomach cramps, dizziness, vomiting and diarrhoea and video showed guests sat bent over while waiting for ambulances to arrive:
Over 80 guests were in bad enough condition that they had to be taken to hospital, but were all sent home within five hours after receiving the necessary treatment for the effects of food poisoning.
Morelos Health Services spokesperson Héctor Barón Olivares said:
‘They were treated immediately, kept under observation, and then discharged. Various probably causes will be analysed, such as bacteria in the food.’
An investigation to confirm the cause of the outbreak is ongoing, but if I was the owner of that catering company I’d be on my way to another country ASAP. I mean, they’ve got a massive lawsuit coming their way if it’s determined their food was the cause of all this (which seems extremely likely). Not only did their mushrooms (allegedly) poison 100 people, they also ruined the bride and groom’s big day in the process!
Aside from all the food poisoning and projectile vomiting/pooping though, I’m sure it was a lovely wedding. No doubt there were also one or two mushroom haters on the guest list who are feeling pretty vindicated right now. Why the hell would you serve wild mushrooms at a wedding anyway?
