The situation in Ukraine shows no signs of improving – although it looks as if Putin has massively underestimated the country’s willingness and ability to defend itself – and videos like this of a Ukrainian grandmother refusing to back down are inspiring everyone out there that they might be able to repel his forces.

CNN’s Clarissa Ward has been roaming the streets of Kyiv and interviewing the Ukrainian citizens who have chosen to stay and defend themselves against the advancing Russian army and Raisa Smatko – a retired economist and grandmother – has to be one of the most badass characters she has met so far. Watch the interview below:
A grandmother and retired economist tells @clarissaward she learned how to make Molotov cocktails using Google. “Let those Russian sh*ts come here,” she says. “We are ready to greet them.” pic.twitter.com/t3URCCdkD6

Let those Russian shits come here.
We are ready to greet them…. We will beat them.
I believe in our Ukraine. I believe in Ukrainian people,
What an absolute legend. You have to feel that with her and all of the other Ukrainians we’ve heard from over the past couple of weeks that there’s a very real possibility that they’ll be able to stand up to the Russian army in the coming days/weeks.
Even if that does happen though, the future of the region is filled with great uncertainty and it sadly doesn’t seem like that’s going to be resolved any time soon. We live in interesting times.
For more of the same, check out this Ukrainian soldier blowing himself and a bridge up to stop Russian forces from advancing. Hero.
