I’m pretty certain that I wouldn’t be dumb enough to visit a safari park and try and pet a violent animal like a lion or a tiger, but the guy in the video below has no such qualms and ultimately ends up paying the price.

Best thing about this video is that it’s 30 seconds long and like the best TYPES of these videos, even though you know what’s going to happen there’s a mounting sense of dread before the lion finally pounces and bites the guy’s hand. The tension is so palpable that you almost have to look away at some points, even though it’s less than a minute long:

Oh shit. That did not look good for the guy but at least he managed to get his hand out of the lion’s mouth  pretty quickly. It’s a shame that we don’t get to see how mauled and manky it ended up, but hopefully this will serve as an advertisement to anyone thinking about petting dangerous animals to just not do it. Wasn’t that person getting their arm ripped off by one of them in ‘Tiger King’ enough for you guys?
