Everyone who grew up in the 00s and knows what a guitar is can shout gobbledygook along to System Of A Down’s ‘Chop Suey’ because it’s a seminal hit of the time and a reminder of a bygone era. It’s just one of those songs.

That’s the reason that a 40 piece symphony orchestra can get away with covering it (which you can see in the video below). Of course it sounds fucking excellent in this capacity, with the violins acting as a perfect piercing vocal line. It sounds completely different to the aggressive original though, and it wouldn’t sound out of place in a Bond movie soundtrack:
Completely epic. In case you’re wondering, the orchestra is known as ‘Metamorphestra’ and they’re planning on doing this kind of stuff regularly, so maybe in a couple of years we might get a cover of Mudvayne’s ‘Dig’. We can but dream.
