I haven’t climbed any major mountains in my life but I’ve seen enough movies like ‘K2’, ‘Everest’, ‘Cliffhanger’, ‘Vertical Limit’ and ‘127 hours’ to know that it’s a dangerous undertaking and that you definitely don’t want to get caught in an avalanche.

One absolute maniac seemed to positively enjoy it though if the video/Instagram post below is anything to go by. Harry Shimmin was recently taking a tour of the Tian Shan mountains in Kyrgyzstan when he heard deep ice cracking behind him and instead of panicking and running away decided to film a massive avalanche coming towards him until pretty much the last second when he could get out of the way.
Get a load of this shit:
Jesus did that guy have a death wish or what? I can’t actually believe that he just stood there and filmed it until the very last minute, although I do love that you can hear in his voice that he realises that he really might have screwed up so badly he might die at the very end before he jumps under the rock.
Stoked he didn’t end up dead though and nobody else did AND it sounds like he managed to make a bit of money off his viral video too. Definitely worth it?! It’s a completely wild video, you can’t deny that so maybe?
For more of the same, check out these Utah snowmobilers sharing another crazy video of an avalanche crushing them. It’s a niche genre of videos, but I love it.
