It might not be as hot as it was a couple of weeks ago at the moment, but we’re essentially in the throes of another heatwave right now and the weather is causing trouble all over the country again because quite frankly we just aren’t cut out to deal with it in the UK.

The latest incident comes from down on the Devon Coast yesterday, August 8th where a major landslide saw the cliff collapse onto the beach in between Sidmouth and East Beach. It’s the second such episode that’s happened in the area in the last couple of weeks.
Here’s some footage of the incident as well as a warning from the local police about walking in the area during this weather:

OK I get that that isn’t exactly the best footage but it looks like a bomb has gone off or something there doesn’t it? Very serious stuff.
Sidmouth resident Mrs Cunliffe had the following to say about the rock fall if you weren’t quite convinced by that footage of it:
It was definitely the largest [cliff fall] I have seen there/ There was another big fall later, and many smaller falls. It’s been going on every half-an-hour.
Thank goodness it was not last week during the Sidmouth Folk Festival, when there were a lot of people walking underneath there.
Yeah thank heavens for that – would have been awful if people attending a folk festival were injured in that rock fall wouldn’t it?
Obviously I jest sorry, but it is quite a ma situation going on down there if cliffs are literally just collapsing because they can’t deal with the heat and it’s only going to be a matter of time until someone gets hurt. Stay safe down there and follow the advice of the authorities for once. Could actually be worth it this time. Maybe take this as evidence that climate change is actually going on as well? Just an idea.
For more of the same, remember this weird video of a man watching his wife plummet off a cliff? That was a strange one.
