I think everyone knows that being stuck in traffic completely and utterly sucks, but I don’t think the way out of it is to jump off a 100 foot bridge.

Thankfully, this isn’t how 26 year old Jimmy Ivan Jennings felt about the situation though, as after three hours of being stuck in traffic thanks to a multi vehicle collision, he decided to jump off the basin bridge in Louisiana. Somebody obviously filmed it and it’s a pretty funny video, but the real hilarity of the situation came after he landed in the water after he busted his arm and mouth and had to tread water for three hours before he managed to get out of the river to safety. What an idiot:

We were bored inside the truck. … I looked down (at the water), and it didn’t seem too far.

As soon as my fingertips came off that side, I was like, ‘Oh my god, this was the stupidest idea.

It was crazy to do what I did. I don’t even want to swim anymore.

Yeah, no arguments in that respect from me. Once Jimmy did manage to get to shore, he discovered that it was an island and he had to steal a boat from an empty house to take himself to the mainland, where he was put in an ambulance – which no doubt cost a load of money because this is America – and handed numerous police citations including criminal mischief and criminal trespassing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, what an absolute idiot. The video isn’t even that good.
