The Bible says that you should love your neighbour, but the reality of the situation is that most people end up hating their neighbours for some stupid reason like they pruned too much of the hedge off or parked their car a little too far away from the pavement. That’s just how it goes.

This has happened yet again in the video below which shows 74 year old Richard Lanigan – who for some reason is known as Mike – attacking his neighbour Shaun Miller in the town of Easington, North Yorkshire. The video is even more shocking as Lanigan continues to kick him whilst he’s on the floor even though Miller’s six year old daughter is screaming at him to stop:

Very weird video hey? I suppose you’re wondering what led to the attack and to be honest it sounds completely bizarre too. Apparently Lanigan kept coming around to the Miller’s house to perform maintenance work on the war memorial adjacent to it. Initially they started talking and it was friendly enough, but then Lanigan started coming over every day and Shaun’s wife Lisa asked him to ease up on his visits a little bit.

For some reason, this then led to a campaign of terror from Lanigan culminating in the attack. He would regularly rip up their bushes and throw them on the war memorial before this happened and constantly shoot the family threatening stares whenever they came into contact. Lisa said the following at the recent court hearing:

I am shocked, disgusted, hurt, disappointed and had my home life and enjoyment of my outdoor space ruined by this man.

I have put up with his threatening stares whenever he sees me in my car, and even when my children are present on the way to school.

I am unsafe in my own village, and have had to rely on victim support on many occasions.

Sounds like a right nutcase doesn’t he? Lanigan was fined £2310 pounds and now has a restraining order making it illegal for him to go near the Miller family or the war memorial. Still gonna be real awkward for them seeing him around the place though. Why can’t people just be more neighbourly hey?
