The Warriors is one of the ultimate cult movies of all time.

If you haven’t seen it, it tells the story of a New York gang falsely accused of murder trying to make their way back to Coney Island across the urban jungle of Manhattan whilst being hunted by all manner of weird gangs, including baseball bat wielding maniacs, mimes and lesbians. It’s seriously awesome and if you haven’t caught it, I’d advise watching it ASAP.
Or you could wait until next year when the TV series inspired by it is set to air on Hulu. No details on the cast yet, but the Russo brothers (who directed Captain America: Civil War and are set to take the reins on the new Avengers movies, amongst other projects) are set to develop it and direct at least the pilot episode, so you can see that it’s already got some pedigree behind it and most likely won’t be a disappointment.
Still, it’s always hard to remake something as iconic as The Warriors, so it’ll be interesting to see if they pull it off and whether it can effectively make the jump into the modern age. I’m thinking it might be tricky and it might be best to leave The Warriors back in the 70s where it belongs. Still, I’m hopeful that the Russo brothers might be able to pull it off.
