Every time we see a video of the Westboro Baptist Church or some other idiots being homophobic for no discernible reason then I’m sure every one of us sighs and is disappointed that people like that still exist in the world. Fortunately, there’s some encouragement for future generations with this video that is currently going viral all over the internet.
The video basically plays two viral gay marriage proposal videos to 13 children from California aged between 5 and 13, films their live reactions to it and then asks each one of them a brief Q & A about their thoughts on marriage having seen these videos. Encouragingly, the reactions of the kids are both heartwarming, hopeful and respectful and don’t really feature any of the bigotry that you might come to associate with at least one interviewee if this video was played to people in older generations.
One of the kids even comes out with the line: ‘if one person should be able to do something then everybody else should be able to do it’ which is a great way of looking at the situation and very progressive in terms of modern day society. As the video itself states at its beginning: ‘The opinions of children about these issues can give incredibly valuable insight into where our society currently stands and where we are headed as people. It’s important to discuss these topics openly in hopes of a better tomorrow through dialogue and conversation.’
