The other day we wrote about how Victoria Beckham, whose family’s net worth is £355 million, was furloughing her staff while also continuing to put out new fashion items like this dress going for £2,200.

Well following the backlash that followed, it looks like Victoria has now decided not to use the government scheme i.e. taxpayer’s money to pay her staff’s wages after all, and will instead be taking care of it herself.
A spokesperson for Victoria Beckham Ltd told Sky News:
Victoria Beckham Ltd has been working hard to protect its people and, while adjusting to the impact of COVID-19 and the government lockdown, our decision to furlough a small number of our staff seemed the most appropriate option in keeping with many other businesses.
The situation is dynamic, and, with the support of our shareholders, we now believe we can navigate through this crisis without drawing from the government furlough scheme. Our application was made in the best interests of trying to protect our staff, and that is still our absolute focus.
We are doing everything we can to ensure we can achieve that without using government assistance.
Looks like some good ol’ fashioned internet pressure still works a treat. I mean no one wants to be the dick that tells multi-millionaire celebrities how to spend their money just because they have so much of it (even if the obvious decision is staring them right in the face), but even the most laid-back person would be pretty annoyed to find their taxes are contributing to paying VB’s staff when she’s one of the richest people on the planet.
Fair play to Victoria Beckham for turning it all around. Really thought she was about to cock up David’s chances of a knighthood for good. Let’s hope other similar businesses follow suit.
