I think it’s fair to say that Universal Studios and its sister theme park Islands Of Adventure are rightly known as a couple of the best theme parks in the world and that the current UK options don’t really offer anything anywhere near their respective quality.

So no doubt everyone into theme parks will be stoked to hear about the seemingly very quantifiable rumours that Universal Studios are developing a 500 acre theme park near Bedford. The news comes after Universal’s parent company Comcast registered the domain names UniversalStudiosGreatBritain.com and UniversalGreatBritain.com back in September and also spent $271 million (£214m) ‘associated with the acquisition of land for potential theme park expansion.’
This is apparently a 500 acre site near Bedford, with reports coming that the company have also invested in Cloud Wing UK Limited – a construction company with a huge brownfield site in Kempston Hardwick, Bedfordshire. If you want a deep dive into the facts around this rumour, check out this video from blogger Alicia Stella who has really done a great job of researching all this:
The signs are looking pretty good eh? This is also compounded by the fact that well known theme park blogger The Main Street also has apparently stumbled across some concept artwork for Universal Studios UK too. Get a load of this (EDIT – he also later confirmed that Universal themselves stated that the park was in the early stages of development too):
Please note that these projects take time and evolve a lot during this. The concept art is, at least, 11 months old and probably isn’t up-to-date, but it still is a first look at this possible new Universal Resort in Europe.

I can recognise some lands, Jurassic (as you said), the duelling coaster from Epic, what seems to be a different monsters land and the others are a bit cloudy… not sure what those could be!

Crazy. Of course, it’s probably going to be at least five or six years before it opens, but it’s been an absolute age since a new theme park has come to the UK and you know that one with the Universal seal of approval is going to be a big deal. Buzzing.
For more of the same, check out the UK’s newest rollercoaster that opened last year in Flamingo Land. Much better than you would expect.
