Snatch is one of the all-time great crime-comedy movies ever made and so it’s a shame there was never a sequel or spin-off. 23 years later though, it might finally be happening and this time with a real life authentic gypsy involved – the Gypsy King himself, in fact!
In an interview with JOE promoting his new reality series on Netflix, Tyson Fury was asked about his thoughts on the movie Snatch, to which he said:
“One Punch Mickey O’Neill, he was a good fighter as well. It is one of my favourite, all time movies. When Guy Ritchie did that, we watched that movie when I was just a young kid, great movie. Guy Ritchie is a great director, and hopefully in the future we make something together. We’ll make a real fight movie, with a real fighter.”
When the interviewer said it sounded like Snatch 2 was in the works, Fury smiled and said:
“I’m due to have a couple of meetings with Guy, about a couple of movies. That could be some big news coming in the future, that’s a little preview for you there.”
Now obviously there’s nothing concrete there but clearly Fury and Guy Ritchie are plotting to work together on something big, and let’s not forget how Ritchie openly regrets not making multiple Snatch sequels. In fact, he even mentioned Tyson Fury while discussing it with The Ronin back in 2020:
“One of the things I do lament is I feel as though I sort of wish that I’d made a follow-up to Snatch. But I’m so distracted by other things in my life at that time that I just, I didn’t know what was up and what was down.
But if I was in that position now, knowing what I know now, I probably would have made three of those.
If I sat down and thought about it now for 15 minutes…Brad Pitt became Tyson Fury… it wouldn’t take me too long to piece together where all those characters are now.”
Sounds like something that absolutely must happen now that the stars are aligning. Imagine how surreal it would be having Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, Stephen Graham, Vinnie Jones all back on screen together, and then throwing Tyson Fury into the mix too.
Gotta get Tyrone back involved too – the world’s greatest getaway driver:
Come on Guy Ritchie, make it happen!
