A Turkish MP who said that Israel will ‘suffer the wrath of Allah’ during a fiery speech on Tuesday immediately had a heart attack and collapsed on stage.
The lawmaker, Hasan Bitmez, was addressing the Grand Assembly of the Turkish National Assembly. He said that Israel will pay for their response to the terrorist attacks by Hamas on October 7th, and also condemned Turkey itself for what he believes is the country’s support for Israel.
“Even if history remains silent, the truth will not remain silent. They think that if they get rid of us, there will be no problem. However, if you get rid of us, you will not be able to escape the torment of conscience. Even if you escape the torment of history, you will not be able to escape the wrath of Allah.”
The 53-year-old then suffered a heart attack and collapsed on stage, banging his head on the floor:

Naturally, this has prompted some rather unfortunate discourse on the internet, with some claiming that Mossad immediately killed him with their heart attack gun, or with some kind of invisible space laser. Others claim that Allah did indeed show his wrath, just not in the way that Bitmez promised. Just your standard social media trolling really, when in all likelihood the guy was so stressed and fired up that it probably triggered an attack he was already vulnerable to.
Bitmez was given CPR and first aid and was taken to hospital where he remains in critical condition, according to a statement from Fahrettin Koca, the minister of health:
“During angiography, it was seen that two main veins were completely blocked, and after the intervention did not yield any results, he was connected to a heart-lung pump. He is now vital with a heart-lung pump.”
Here’s hoping Bitmez recovers and gets himself up on that podium again, because that’s really no way to bow out for any man, whether you agree with their politics or not. Get well soon, Hasan!
