A US family who supported Donald Trump during the US election have been left in a state of shock after their family member was deported to Mexico during a Trump-led immigration crackdown.

Roberto Beristain, 43, moved to the US from Mexico around 20 years ago, where he soon after met and married his wife Helen. The two started a family and Beristain went on to own a popular steak house, have a social security number and a permission to work.

However, when he went to renew his permission to work this year, it was rejected due to the stricter immigration laws. Helen, who voted for Trump, said she is confused as she thought “good people” would be fine. What a moron.

Beristain said:

They suddenly told me it was time to go.

They told me to get my stuff, they put me in the back of a van, and sped towards the border.

They took me to another facility while in transport to sign paperwork. I asked to speak with my attorney, but was told there wasn’t time for that. At around 10pm, I was dropped off at the Mexico-US border and walked into Mexico.

Meanwhile, Helen said:

[Trump] did say the good people would not be deported, the good people would be checked.

What a foolish woman – although it does sort of explain how someone like Trump got into power… thanks to the stupidity of others.
