Normally I’m pretty pro transgender people when I write on Sick Chirpse, but I’m not really sure if the person in this article is doing the movement any favours with their actions.

31 year old Tanius made the transition from female to male seven years ago, but was surprised to find that he was pregnant in the spring of 2021, giving birth to his son Za’nius in early 2022. He then decided to raise his child as a ‘seahorse dad’ – which is apparently the technical term for such an arrangement – and document the process on his TikTok account, where he’s regularly called out by haters and other members of the transgender community for taking the best of both worlds and not really helping the whole status quo.

Tanius recently appeared in an interview with Truly where he said the following, explaining his actions and clapping back at his critics on both sides of the divide:

I’ve got the parts to be able to [breastfeed]. Just because I transitioned does not mean I stripped myself from wanting to give my child nutrients.

I’ve got it, why not utilize what I’ve got? My child has to eat. I can’t sit there and starve him. He’s gotta eat and he doesn’t take a bottle, so I’ve got to feed him.

I got a lot of backlash, it got the best of me real bad [at first]. But I’m like, maybe if I continue sharing I might be able to help the next individual.

My response of the haters is that we gotta stop living under a rock, we’ve gotta open up our eyes and realize there’s more than one way to live.

I guess this guy isn’t harming anyone at the moment with his actions and I normally go from that origin point when I drop my opinions on stuff like this, but I just think that what this guy is doing is just super confusing. Firstly how did he manage to get pregnant because there’s a lot going on there that a man definitely shouldn’t be able to do and then secondly his actions once he’s had the baby are just even more confusing for everyone involved and the transgender community itself? Surely he has to just pick one gender and stick with it and only do stuff that’s associated with that gender? There’s already enough beef with everyone about this subject without this guy acting like this and muddying the waters even further.

Having said that, I suppose it’s cool that he’s documenting his journey on TikTok or wherever because it at least might make people – including myself – understand what he’s doing and why he’s doing it. Not sure if it’s ever really going to be seen as acceptable though.

I reckon his kid is absolutely going to hate him so much once he’s grown up. Gonna be bullied to the point of suicide at high school probably.
