The Canadian high school that’s gone to ridiculous lengths to protect transgender teacher Kayla Lemieux’s ‘gender expression’ has finally conceded that maybe it’s a tad inappropriate for a teacher to trot around the classroom with enormous prosthetic breasts, and has placed the teacher on paid leave.
This comes after Lemieux’s neighbours revealed that she walks around town as a man when not working at the school, though Lemieux insists the man in the photo isn’t her and that her giant Z cups are in fact 100% real.
The Halton District School board confirmed to the Toronto Sun that Lemieux has been placed on administrative leave from her role at Oakville Trafalgar High School:
While not currently on an active assignment, the teacher remains employed with the HDSB (Halton District School Board).
So why has Oakville Trafalgar High School suddenly U-turned after going to great lengths to protect their trans teacher, and despite all the backlash from parents and the media? Well, it could be that they’re slowly realising that they’ve been duped. Not just because of the photos of Lemieux going about her business as a man, but also these rumours that have been doing the rounds…
There’s now a push by the school board to develop a policy requiring teachers to have an “appropriate and professional” appearance, despite the fact they sided with Lemieux up until this week.
Has the school finally realised that there is a line at which gender expression becomes ridiculous and inappropriate, especially in a school setting? We’ll have to see how this one plays out.
