Although Better Call Saul has its fans, it’s often struggled to emerge from the shadow of Breaking Bad, mainly because it’s a very very different show and hasn’t really featured much of the violence and sinister drug war conflict which made the original such a hit with television audience worldwide.

This might be set to change with the fourth season of Better Call Saul though as the 15 second teaser trailer that’s just been released features guns, explosions, cars being set on fire and Gus Frings looking completely pissed off about something. We’ve also got the synopsis for the series which (spoilers) reveals that Chuck did indeed die at the end of season three and Jimmy is spirally further and further towards becoming Saul Goodman:

In Better Call Saul‘s fourth season, Chuck’s death catalyses Jimmy McGill’s transformation into Saul Goodman. In the wake of his loss, Jimmy takes steps into the criminal world that will put his future as a lawyer — and his relationship with Kim — in jeopardy.
Chuck’s death deeply affects former colleagues Howard (Patrick Fabian) and Kim as well, putting the two of them once again on opposite sides of a battle sparked by the Brothers McGill.
Sounds like pretty much what I figured would happen this season, but did you see those two brothers from the Mexican cartel in the trailer. And that henchman who got his throat slit by Gus in Breaking Bad? Seems like those past three seasons of exposition are finally going to pay off with this season. Fingers crossed.
The series returns on August 6th in America and will be on Netflix a day later over here. That’s only six weeks away.
