It’s already shaping up to be a great year for TV and you can now add American Gods to the list of must see shows starting this year.

The new series is based on a book by Neil Gaiman and features Ricky Whittle (remember him from Dream Team and Hollyoaks?), Ian McShane, Gillian Anderson, Emily Browning, Crispin Glover, Peter Stormare and Dane Cook. It tells the story of a bunch of gods who are now attempting to live in the modern world and all the shit that they get up to whilst they’re down here.

As you might have guessed, this looks like it involves a lot of sex and violence from the trailer:

Yeah, not too sure really what’s going on there, but it looks suitably epic and like a lot is going on, so I’m excited.

Also, I don’t think you can really go wrong with Neil Gaiman can you? Guy’s a great storyteller and people seem to be getting better at adapting books into TV shows too. There’s also a lot of talent involved behind the camera with the directors of 30 Days Of Night and Cube involved too. Surely they can’t fuck this one up?
