5) Sagrada Familia, Spain
The Sagrada, in Barcelona was designed by Antoni Gaudà and work commenced on the build in 1882. Now, you know the Spanish’s relaxed attitude to getting stuff done? Yeah, well this is the epitome of the Spanish lackadaisical manner – more than a century since work started, it still isn’t finished. I mean, yeah, it’s a big job, we can all see that, but get a grip guys. It’s right in the middle of a major city, that’s pretty embarrassing isn’t it? Who’s going to want to do business with Spain?: “Oh hello there Spain, I’m a big fat cat business mogul and I’m thinking about getting you involved in some pretty ace deals that will make you rich, what do you think?…. oh hang on a minute, it’s taken you more than a hundred years to build one church? Don’t worry I’ll ask next door….
To be fair it’s pretty epic as it is. I’d just burn the designs and call it finished if I were them.
6) Borgund Stave Church, Norway
Borguns Stave Church is in Lærdal, Norway. It was probably built about 1200 AD, which is quite a while back. There are only 28 of these original wooden stave churches still left in Norway, and this is the most pristine. Hopefully the black metal brigade won’t make it to this one.
