3) Forehead Removal
Pip Caliskan made the bold decision to remove her entire forehead, that’s all the skin and the tissue beneath, plus the majority of the skull density at the front. The 45-year-old developed a dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) growth, which doctors called a ‘one-in-a-million’ tumour. The picture below the next paragraph is pretty grizzly so don’t scroll down if you’ve got a mouthful of soup or whatever.
These DFSPs are renowned for being invasive and difficult to remove. Pip had already had the thing removed twice, then 10 years later it returned. So in a bid to rid the lady of the chance of another return, they pretty much obliterated her forehead entirely.
Here’s the picture taken not long after surgery:
Pip is now trying to raise awareness of DFSP, good on you Pip. Keep plugging.
