3) Eritrean Hail
More freak weather now. Eritrea which isn’t exactly known for its cold, harsh weather managed to get covered in a meter of hail this week. The capital city, Asmara, normally receives nothing more than fleeting showers at this time of the year, so a 90 minute hail storm brought the city to a complete standstill.
The local newspaper, Hadras Eritrea is reporting it as the heaviest storm to have ever hit the capital. Normally at this time of year the temperatures in Asmara are in the twenties, so ice was an unexpected and probably unwanted gift.
