1) Medical Miracle #3

The number one spot is once again filled by another medical marvel. A couple of weeks back we had the conjoined twins and the week before that we had the boy with a heart on the outside of his chest. This is in the same league.

Here we have a man who is both lucky and unlucky in equal measure. Mr Li, from the Xinjin county in China’s Sichuan province, had forgotten the keys to his home and it was late at night, so he decided to climb onto his flat’s balcony.

The story doesn’t say whether he was drunk or not, but I’m going to assume he was. After a little slip Mr Li fell. That’s unlucky. Unfortunately there was a pole between him and the ground 50 ft below which impaled him. Fortunately the misplaced pole and consequent impaling actually broke his fall and saved his life.

So is he lucky or unlucky? On balance I’d say he was unlucky, very unlucky indeed. But then the fact that he didn’t die is incredibly lucky… oh I don’t know…

He’s in a bit of a banged up state as you’d imagine but he is expected to recover fully.

So there you go, that was pretty raucous wasn’t it?
