Willie Dixon — You Need Love 1962 vs Led Zeppelin — Whole Lotta Love 1969

Ooooh where to start. Well Led Zeppelin had a lawsuit brought against them due to similarities in the lyrics between Dixon’s “You Need Love” and Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”. Robert Plant has openly admitted this saying “Page’s riff was Page’s riff. It was there before anything else. I just thought, ‘well, what am I going to sing?’ That was it, a nick. Now happily paid for. At the time, there was a lot of conversation about what to do. It was decided that it was so far away in time and influence that…well, you only get caught when you’re successful. That’s the game!”   So fair enough right? Well not really, because the Small Faces also did a cover, which was more near the original than”Whole Lotta Love” Phew, anyway for your listening pleasure, see below for all 3 versions.
