1) 9/11 – 2001
Well, this one doesn’t need any introduction does it? I doubt there’s a person in the Western world that couldn’t tell you a bit about or give an opinion on 9/11. With almost 3000 deaths and 6000 injured it’s the worst terrorist attack of all time, by quite a long way.
Whether you’re in the conspiracy brigade or not it was an act of terrorism by someone, and that someone did a sweepingly devastating job. I know I’m not alone when I say I was glued to the news channels for the whole day. The massacre and scale of the organisation was staggering.
It gave birth to the War On Terror which changed the face of global politics and relationships for ever. And not necessarily for the better, that’s for sure. I can’t see there will be an end to terrorism any time soon, whether Obama’s troops cover a third of the world or not. Where there is inequality, poverty and religious zeal there will be carnage.
