So yeah what do you think about those? I think my favourite is either one of the last three or Gaston Maella’s because I’ve never seen anything like it before. Don’t get me wrong, the others are all awesome but Messi doesn’t really have to beat anyone on his, I’ve seen scissor kicks, bicycle kicks  and goals from corners before like Falcao’s, Sow’s and Stochs and they aren’t anything that special, and don’t get me started on Olivia Jimenez’s. I’m not a sexist by any means and I think it’s great that women’s football is developing and becoming more accepted, but there is no way that there isn’t one better goal than that out of every match that was played in 2012, and it’s blatantly only been included to fill some quotas and appear NOT sexist, which debatably is even more sexist if it hadn’t been included. Would probably win women’s goal of the year though no problem.

Hatem Ben Arfa’s is a great goal with a great turn at the end but I think (even though it wasn’t) it suffers a bit because it just looks too easy, whereas Neymar’s run actually looks really solid and even though he does get a bit of good luck at the end with a rebound he still runs at people that are trying to take him out the whole way there. I like Agyemang-Badu’s goal better than the standard corner volley or whatever because he flicks it up first and just spanks it, and I like Eric Hassli’s because nobody ever hits a volley like that, especially in the last minute when you have a bunch of space and need to equalise and might just be able to bring it down and score just as easily. So yeah picking my favourite out of those 4 is really difficult but I think I like Gaston Maella’s goal the best just because it’s so outrageous and I’ve never seen anyone do anything like that. It probably won’t win though because Matty Burrows performed a similar backheeled lob in 2010 and came up short. With that in mind, I’m going to back Eric Hassli’s insane last minute volley, although I reckon Neymar will probably win again.
