6. Twissman
The Peckham native was always a ‘Channel U’ favourite, and whilst he was never really seen anywhere else, his tunes were always requested. As a religious man his pieces always revolved around serious topics including ‘Life’s Journeys’ — a song dedicated to the struggles of impoverished black youth with references to Rosa Parks, Malcolm X & Martin Luther King. He was absent for a period after being stabbed, but came back with his most defiant piece in reaction to his near death experience- “I Can Take The Rain”, which was to be the final track of his Channel U reign.
