To be fair, David Russell probably wouldn’t have gotten away with the crime in the first place, but the police didn’t have to work very hard to find out it was him as Russell had Googled “how to kill someone and get away with it” shortly before the crime. He also typed in “hand-to-hand contact” “ways to kill someone with your bare hands” “best knife to kill someone” and “how to knock someone unconscious.” What an absolute moron. That’s probably why he was flipping burgers for a living.
Apparently Russell and Benedicto met on social media and struck up a relationship online. Soon after, Benedicto flew over to the UK to see Russell. However, the night before she arrived, Russell made the incriminating Google search and then hours after, he lured her into his house by saying that he had a present.
When she arrived, he blindfolded her and told her to put her head back and arms out. Russell then slit her throat with a breadknife. What a shocker. As she pulled away, Russell shouted:
Why won’t you die? You’ve ruined my life forever.
Soon after the police arrived, Russell was found collapsed on the floor after taking an overdose. He has since been charged with attempted murder and been sentenced to a minimum of ten years. He should’ve probably gone incognito before making those incriminating searches, am I right?
