James McGowan is a smart man. The 28 year old software developer/blogger is building a career out of eating at McDonald’s ‘restaurants’ all over the world. If that isn’t your idea of heaven then I’m afraid we can’t be friends.

What a life he must lead. Admittedly it probably won’t be a very long life if he eats McDonald’s that often, but as the saying goes: live fast die young. He literally gets to travel and eat junk food more often than he takes a dump. Although, that might just be because his bowel movements are fucked up from all that mechanically recovered meat.

Over five years, James has managed to visit 53 different countries and reviewed 300 different regional menu items. What makes his blog unique is that he only reviews the weirdest items that are specific to the region he’s in at the time. And more often than not they get pretty fucking weird indeed. Case in point, the McChoco Potato, courtesy of Japan:

Pretty much just chocolate sauce squirted all over french fries. Pretty weird, right? Well that’s nothing compared to the Curry Crab Pies that James enjoyed (yeah, he genuinely enjoyed these vomit pastries) in Thailand:

Probably one of the only things that actually looks edible from his blog are the McChurros, strangely these were found in Korea:

James spoke to the media recently, and explained why he started his blog:

Strangers say, “if you’re fortunate enough to go to all these countries, why do you waste it on McDonald’s?”

People expect to see a photo of a temple when you go to Thailand. They’re not expecting the salmon rice at McDonald’s.

I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. This is my vice.

When asked if eating weird purple shit like this:

… had any adverse affects on his health he replied that he hadn’t actually gained a pound since starting out in 2011:

In fact I weigh less now than I did when I started.

No special diet, but my wife and I eat healthy, home-cooked meals whenever possible. We also avoid deep-fried foods as much as we can.

The McTraveller uses airmiles to fund his expensive hobby and already has plans to visit Oman, Mongolia, Qatar and Vietnam this year. Although, if I was him, I’d be on the first flight back to Japan to order 12 of these McNugget Bucket Meals.
