Horror film ‘Top Ten’ lists are always a little tricky to define due to the many components that make it subjectively scary. One man’s gore is another man’s suspense and all that.

That’s why new site ‘Reel Scary’ have decided to break the ratings down into different categories so that users can rate their favourite horrors by most gory, most disturbing and the one that creates the most suspense. After many requests the site is now working on an additional ‘jump scares’ category too, which would make total sense.

Yes, I would have to agree with a lot of those. I will say though that ‘Martyrs’ and ‘Antichrist’ are significantly more disturbing than ‘A Serbian Film’. And I reckon that ‘The Shining’ should be much higher up on the list of movies that cause suspense. That’s just my opinion though, which I guess is the whole point of this website. I reckon they could do with a few more French options in there. French horror movies are the absolute best after all.
