I’m sure most people reading this grew up reading the Goosebumps books of R.L. Stine and getting the absolute crap scared out of them before they went to sleep.

So I’m sure most people reading this will be pretty excited about the prospect of a Goosebumps movie being released this Halloween because I sure was. However, I was instantly disappointed when I saw that Jack Black was going to be the lead in it because he’s easily one of the most annoying actors in history, to the point where I don’t think I’ve ever actually enjoyed any of his movies because he’s been hamming it up so much and desperately trying to be funny.

Thankfully though after watching the trailer, it looks like Black doesn’t have that big an influence on the film – despite playing the master of horror himself R.L. Stine – and it’s more about his niece and some other kids that hang out with her. The plot revolves around all of the monsters that Stine created being let loose on the small town he inhabits and him and the kids – mostly the kids by the looks of things – having to get them back into the books.

I’m not really sure how all that works but it’s a fantasy movie so let’s not think about it too much. It looks like it could be a lot of fun though – kind of like Cabin In The Woods for little kids and adults who want to remember what it was like to be a little kid. if Jack Black is in it about as much as he’s in this trailer, then it will hopefully be a great watch.
