If you were of a certain age at the turn of the millennium, then there’s almost no way that you weren’t caught up in the absolute tidal wave of hype that surrounded The Strokes, as their meteoric rise to ‘Biggest Band On The Planet’ happened in about six months. It really was something that I don’t really think the likes of which has ever been seen before, or since.

Of course, The Strokes aren’t really an active band now and just play a set once every couple of years for thousands and thousands of pounds each, but we’re still lapping it up and we’re still gonna head out and see them when they headline All Points East Festival in Victoria Park, London this summer on Saturday May 25th. They’ll be appearing alongside a whole host bands of a similar ilk too, with The Raconteurs, Interpol, Johnny Marr, Jarvis Cocker, Courtney Barnett and Anna Calvi all playing as well.
Tickets go on sale this Friday and will cost £65 for a day. If you wanna do the whole weekend – Chemical Brothers and Christine And The Queens are headlining the other days then I imagine there’s some kind of deal to do that as well. There’s Bon Iver and Bring Me The Horizon playing the weekend afterwards as well. Seems like they’re really trying to make this festival a big thing hey? Might have to check it out.
For more of the same, check out this chicken nugget festival that’s also coming to the UK this year. Bound to be something special.
