The Rock will earn more money for a single film than any actor has ever earned for a movie for his upcoming role in RED ONE; a Christmas movie produced by Amazon.

A franchise? Well I guess that makes sense given he’s being paid $50m for it. Clearly, the movie execs at Amazon have high hopes not just for a solitary Christmas movie but also turning it into a whole new series of movies. Surely it’s going to be really, really good if they’re forking out that amount of cash to get The Rock involved, right?
Either way, 50 mill just seems like an absurd amount of money to be paying any actor for any movie, especially an actor like The Rock who basically plays the same character in every film. Oh let me guess – he’s a tough guy with a soft side who’s going to save Christmas?
On the plus side, it seems there are at least some projects out there that the writers’ strike isn’t affecting. Good thing they got done filming Leo’s new film, too.
