Rainn Wilson is undoubtedly best known for his role as Dwight Schrute in the American version of ‘The Office’ but it turns out since the sitcom ended that he’s turned into quite a big climate change activist.

In fact Wilson is so big into raising awareness about climate change, that he’s decided to legally change his name in order to draw attention to it just as COP 27 kicks off in Egypt this week. Here’s what he had to say:

With the help of my scientist friends at Arctic Basecamp, I’ve changed my name to Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson.

This is not a joke, I’m as serious as the melting Arctic, which amplifies global risks including extreme weather events around the globe.

It does kinda sounds like that’s a joke though doesn’t it? I suppose we are writing about it – and I’m sure a bunch of other media outlets are as well and even if we’re talking about it being stupid and a joke, we are at least mentioning climate change along with it so it is at least achieving his goal of raising some awareness.

Whether or not people also think he’s an idiot for his methods of doing this is probably irrelevant to him, but no doubt there are going to be a few people out there that think that, myself included. Whatever gets the message across in the war on climate change though, right? Hope Rainnfall Heat Wave Extreme Winter Wilson enjoys COP 27.
